According to a global study by TRG Datacenters, Instagram was the most frequently deleted app across the globe in 2023 and there were 1 million and more searches each month for how to delete accounts. In India, people were uninstalling apps in growing numbers because of various reasons.
1. Instagram
More than 1 million users around the world look for account deletion on a monthly basis.
The increase in such methods is mainly due to issues with privacy, the growing number of ads online and people trying to spend less time on their screens.
2. Snapchat
At least 128,500 users asked to delete their accounts across the world.Concerns about being too attached to their phones and about their privacy were stated by users.
3. What was Twitter is now referred to as X
In total, almost 123,000 users internationally wished to delete their accounts.People’s decisions on the platform were affected by the updates in its rules and how it manages content.
4. Telegram
About 71,700 individuals around the globe tried to delete their Facebook accounts.People were also worried about app security and its reliability.
5. Facebook
Some 49,000 users around the world wanted their account deleted.The platform’s users were worried about their privacy and wondered how relevant the platform had become.
Apps were removed after certain regulations were put into place
India has asked Google to Remove Several Apps.In the beginning of 2024, Google removed some Indian apps from the Play Store because they did not obey in-app payment rules. Those affected businesses were Bharat Matrimony and Naukri which experienced major disruptions. According to the Indian IT Minister, Google’s move should be examined due to the risk it poses to local startups.
